How Can You Be Saved?

Today is the day of salvation!

If I die today will I go to heaven? Why would anyone put off the most important decision they could ever make in their lives, concerning eternal life? “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

The Apostle Paul defines the Gospel this way:

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

About Our Staff

Frank Gonzalez

Frank is originally from Los Angeles, California and came to faith in Christ in summer of 1990. Shortly after his conversion, the Lord began to stir his heart to serve Him in ministry. As God gave him a growing desire to make disciples, teach His Word and build up the body of Christ, his calling as a pastor became more evident. Frank is a graduate of the Calvary Chapel School of Ministry, served at Calvary Chapel South Bay in Los Angeles as a youth pastor between 1996 and 2004 before beginning his overseas ministry in Europe. In Europe he served with a church planting team in Radom and Olsztyn, Poland, taught at the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Montebelluna, Italy, planted and co-pastored a local church for Farsi speaking refugees in Athens, Greece. In 2017, Frank handed the leadership of the church in Athens over to his co-pastor. Soon after which he relocated to Kandern, Germany with his wife Suzie to plant Calvary Chapel Kandertal.

“The Lord has taken us on quite a journey over the years and we’ve been blessed to serve Him among multiple cultures. I am extremely excited to see what He has planned for this new season in Kandern.”

Suzie Gonzalez
Pastor’s Wife

Suzie was born and partially raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. Later she moved to Bakersfield, California with her parents and two siblings where she spent the remainder of her youth and young adult life. In 1996 at the age of 21, she gave her heart to the Lord while attending Valley Bible Christian Fellowship in Bakersfield. Sensing the need to grow in her faith and get out of her comfort zone she took a new position within the company she was working for and moved to Orange County, California in 1998 and began attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. As this became her home church it also became a new chapter in her walk and life. While attending CCCM she was baptized and eventually met and married her husband, Frank Gonzalez. From there she served alongside her husband in youth ministry at CC South Bay in Los Angeles until they began their ministry in Europe in 2004. She has served in many different ways and has worn many different hats, such as, children’s ministry, women’s studies, counseling, humanitarian, administration of all types and the most important job is being a wife. Since being on the mission field she has served in Poland, Italy, and Greece. In Germany she is blessed to be in the nation of her heritage where she also holds her second citizenship.

“Being a wife of a pastor since has always had its challenges but I am thankful through it, God has and will continue to weed things out that don’t belong and graft in what does. It remains a privilege to serve Jesus in any capacity whether it be with the children, the women or cleaning the bathrooms.”

What We Believe

. . . About the Bible

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. We believe the Bible is the final authority in every area it addresses for every individual Christian, as well as for the church collectively. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21, John 10:35)

. . . About God the Father

There is one God who eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that all things were created by Him and for Him. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 45:21-22, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 1:16)

. . . About God the Son, Jesus Christ

God the Son became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ. That He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life (for He was without sin), died a substitutionary death for all mankind, was raised from the dead the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God until His enemies are made His footstool. (John 1:1, 14, Matthew 1:18-25, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 10:12-13)

. . . About God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates and indwells and seals every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He empowers us to live as witnesses for Christ. We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to His church today. (John 14:16-17, John 16:7-11, Titus 3:5-6, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12-14, 1 Peter 4:10-11)

. . . About Humanity

That God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity, and worth. According to His purpose and design, men and women are created to fulfill distinct but complementary roles in the contexts of marriage, family, and the local church. (Genesis 1:26-28, Ephesians 5:22-6:4, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)

Also, as a result of the Fall, all people are sinners by nature and in need of a Savior, and that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior of the world. That salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Him. We believe that all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved eternally. (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:18-19, Matthew 1:21, 1 John 4:14, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9)

. . . About the Church

There is one church, the body of Christ, consisting of men and women from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. We believe that each local congregation is an expression of that universal church. (Ephesians 4:4, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Revelation 5:9, Acts 2:42-47)

. . . About Things to Come

The church will be delivered from the “hour of trial” which will come upon all who dwell on the earth, being “caught up” in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (the Rapture). (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-55, Revelation 3:10)

Then the saints will return with Christ to the earth, at His Second Coming, to rule and reign with Him. (Jude 1:14, Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:4)

At the pre-millennial return of Christ, Jesus will sit upon the throne of David and rule over the house of Jacob (Israel), and the entire cosmos, forever. (Revelation 20:1-6, Luke 1:31-33, Isaiah 9:6-7)

At the resurrection of the dead, some will be raised to life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt (hell). God will create a new heaven and earth in which righteousness will dwell and the throne of God and the Lamb (Jesus Christ) will be established in the New Jerusalem forever. (Daniel 12:2, John 5:25-29, Revelation 21:1-22:5)
